The Chalcedonian Creed was important for defending the truth about Jesus, especially against beliefs that misrepresented His nature, like Nestorianism (which separated His divine and human natures) and Monophysitism (which said He only had a divine nature). It affirms that Jesus is both fully God and fully man in one person—a belief known as the hypostatic union.
